CRYSTAL LAKE, IL, (March 8, 2017)
The American Council of Engineering Companies of Illinois (ACEC-IL) honored Baxter & Woodman, Inc. and the Glenbard Wastewater Authority with a 2017 Engineering Excellence Honor Award. Baxter & Woodman, Inc., a leader in civil engineering, won praise for its design and construction engineering of the nearly $5 million Combined Heat and Power Project. This project allows the Authority to produce electricity and thermal energy using digester gas generated during the plant’s anaerobic treatment process. In order to meet a tight funding deadline, this project was designed, built, and operational in under 12 months.
The American Council of Engineering Companies of Illinois (ACEC-IL) also awarded Baxter & Woodman, Inc. and the Village of Northbrook with a 2017 Engineering Excellence 2017 Special Achievement Award. Baxter & Woodman, Inc., was recognized for design and construction engineering of the $9.65 million Wescott Park Stormwater Storage Facility. This underground StormTrap detention system provides 7.5 million gallons of stormwater storage. This is the largest stormwater chamber of its kind in Illinois.
“ACEC-IL looks closely at four criteria to judge award winning projects (exceeding client expectations; social, economic, or sustainable design consideration; originality; and complexity), so we are thrilled to be selected for an award,” says Baxter & Woodman’s Vice President and COO, Lou Haussmann, P.E. “Although we have been providing engineering services for almost 70 years, this kind of recognition is always an honor,” he adds.
