Accessing the FTP Server Externally
Downloading files from the FTP server can be done using a web browser, but most do not support uploading. In order to upload a file, you can use either of the two methods below:
Windows Explorer
- Open Windows Explorer
- Enter ftp://ftp.baxterwoodman.com into the address bar and press Enter or click Go.
- When prompted, enter the username and password that were provided via email.
- After you have successfully logged in, you will see a directory listing showing the contents of your folder on the FTP server. This window functions like any other Windows Explorer window, meaning that you can drag and drop or copy and paste files to and from it.
- If you experience any problems, please contact Baxter & Woodman IT using the information listed at the top of this page.
FTP Client (FileZilla)
If you need an FTP Client, we recommend FileZilla. We have tested it extensively and it works well with our FTP server.
When you have installed FileZilla, please complete the following steps.
- Open FileZilla
- You should see a tool bar at the top of the window with three fields: Host, Username and Password.
- Enter ftp.baxterwoodman.com in the Host field.
- Enter the username and password that were provided via email.
- When you have filled out the fields, click the Quickconnect button.
- After you have successfully logged in, you will see a directory listing showing the contents of your folder on the FTP server in the right pane under the heading "Remote site". If the login was unsuccessful, there should be an error in red text within the box below the Quickconnect tool bar.
- The left pane under the heading "Local site", will show the folders on your local computer. You can navigate the folder trees in both of the panes and drag and drop files between them to upload or download.
- More detailed instructions can be found on the Filezilla web site.
- If you experience any problems, please contact Baxter & Woodman IT using the information listed at the top of this page.
